"Alabaster Jar" | Luster Print

"Alabaster Jar" is a high-quality luster photo paper print. The original painting is acrylic on canvas, 30" x 40" It is based off the Biblical narrative of Mary of Bethany and Jesus before His crucifiction. In the story, Mary buys a costly oil in an alabaster jar (a years wages worth) and breaks jar at Jesus' feet in wild abandon. She anoints Jesus' body with the perfumed oil and washes His feet with her hair and her tears (Matt. 7, Mark 14, Luke 7 & John 12). This was not an acceptable demonstration (a woman with an uncovered head and "wasting" a years' worth of wages) in the culture of the time, but it was beautiful sacrifice and Jesus considered it as worship. Jesus loves when our worship is sacrificial.
