"La Croix #1" is part of the "Crushed" Collection, which is a series of paintings created during quarentine and symbolize the deterioration of the aristocratic social facade. As many in-person events have been cancelled throughout the beginning of 2020, the social persona of an individual, namely celebrities, has changed or crumbled. These series are also studies created from still-life arrangements. They celebrate the essence of color and texture within the oil painting.
